It’s not a complicated question. Perhaps it is emotionally easier to ask “Why did my company hire me?”
12Stone did not hire me to implement my vision…or to take the organization into a new direction. They didn’t bring me on-board so that I could create a platform for myself. They were not asking me to “shake things up” or to “play the devil’s advocate.” They hired me to help the organization achieve their desired goals and objectives.
Now, if I were the CEO, it would be all about my vision. But, I’m not.
Have you figured out that I am talking about why your company hired you? If you are not the CEO, then you were not hired to achieve your vision or your ideas. If you want to be promoted, figure out how to achieve the goals and objectives of the leaders above you. Then, when you’re promoted, push repeat.
Yes, add value when you can. Give fresh thought and ideas to your projects. Offer options that might not have been thought of. But it’s not about achieving your vision. It’s about SERVING.
Thanks for listening.
