I have had many twists and turns in my career. I have received huge promotions and company rewards…and I have experienced equally significant setbacks. In one memorable moment, I was moved from a large corner office with glass walls to a 6×8 cubicle without enough room to move. All my peers thought I was being fired.
- When you’ve been passed up for a promotion you deserve, who do you blame?
- When someone else was hired for your perfect position, how do you respond?
- When you have been unjustly treated, who is your defender?
When I experienced an upward movement, I felt I was being justly rewarded. When I received anything that felt like a negative impact to my career, I felt unjustly targeted. Neither was actually true. Life is full of ebb and flow…much like the ocean tides.
Learn to ride the cycles without blaming others.
Learn to embrace the path you have taken.
Learn to allow God to be your defender.
Thanks for listening.
