12Stone Church has 4 locations, and one of our campuses is preparing to move into a new facility. Yesterday, I participated in an event where they trained their teams for the increase in operational demands on the new campus.
As people exited the event, I saw someone I knew and invited him to join a team that I thought he would enjoy. But his wife quickly intervened and said “no”! She explained that she only saw her husband one day a week and was not willing to loose his attention on that day.
That sounded a warning alarm in my head. Is he not serving at home? Isn’t that our first and primary responsibility?
If you are serving at church (or another organization “for a good cause”) but creating resentment at home, then you are headed down a bad path. Stop and get your house in order. THEN, after you are serving at home, you can serve at church or in your community.
Serving is a 7×24 responsibility…not a 1 hour per week activity.
Thanks for listening.
