Given our aversion to wasted time, you would think that it is listed as one of the 7 deadly sins. When personal time is lost due to someone’s mistake (or as a consequence of their decision), people act as though they have been stolen from.
It is true that time is a limited commodity. Once it passes, we have no ability to get our time back. It is indeed valuable. However, the most impressive leaders I know have learned how to intentionally “waste” time.
For example, Kevin Myers throws away (wastes) hours of great sermon material every week. After preparing for his message, he has to toss most of his research away…only keeping what is absolutely essential for the limited time he has to deliver each week. We can only guess how many rich thoughts never make it to a Sunday message.
Can you intelligently “waste” your time, so that we only receive your very best?
Thanks for listening.
