There is beauty in personal sacrifice. Over the last 6 weeks, 12Stone volunteers have invested well over 10,000 hours to serve thousands of families in our county. From the food distribution at the schools to the gifts for kids of single parents and foster kids…this project has been amazing to watch unfold.
To the very end of the final event last night, we had volunteers who went above and beyond by helping the facility team clean and reset the building…long after everyone else had left and gone home. It was absolutely glorifying to God.
And yet – Scripture tells us “To obey is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22).
I confess that I sometimes find it easier to sacrifice for God (giving my time, talents, and treasures) rather than to obey what He has asked me to do. I am convicted in my spirit that – although I am giving all my energy to Him in this season – I am still aware of projects He has asked me to do that I have not begun.
I often tell Him “I will get started soon” because I am busy on other priorities. Am I?
How about you?
Any areas of “delayed obedience”? Sounds a lot like “disobedience”, doesn’t it?
Thanks for listening.
