Recently, a friend asked me to pray for her. She was facing a huge dilemma that was out of her control, and the impact to her family was immeasurable. I agreed to pray for her and shared the request with a few close friends (with her permission).
For hours, I carried anxiety over her issue. I had to keep brushing away the thoughts of her to focus on my work. After all, I had her on my list…and was going to “formally” pray for her that night.
After several hours of delaying, I finally yielded to the the press to pray for her. I stopped what I was doing, asked my wife to join me, and actually prayed.
As soon as it was over, the burden lifted. I forgot completely about the situation until the next day…when she called to tell me that she had prevailed. Her family was safe. The danger had passed.
Why do we delay in following through? When something needs to be done, let’s do it now. Delayed obedience can become disobedience. Any parent knows that…
Thanks for listening.
