It is more than just my personality…more than just my natural talents…I have a spiritual gift of Administration. It seems that God has chosen to give me a supernatural ability to organize and lead project teams to accomplish the mission of the church. I feel the most joy, the most peace, and the greatest sense of purpose when I work to bring clarity to the projects here at 12Stone Church. Projects like launching new campuses and feeding thousands of families at Christmas.
In a recent discussion, I heard myself sharing this quote with another pastor on staff that helped clarify our role as project managers:
We need to demand clarity…without being demanding.
Our team appreciates our ability (and passion) for clarity. However, when we begin to believe that everyone must submit to our pursuit of clarity, we lose our ability to influence the project. We must resist the temptation to believe that we exist to “protect the project [or organization] from failure.”
But we were never asked to carry that responsibility. We were asked to:
- Produce clarity,
- Add value, and
- Increase the probability of success
Thanks for listening.
