I love hanging around a great storyteller. Some people have the incredible ability to take simple everyday run-of-the-mill situations and spin them into entertaining tales of humor, or courage, or teachable moments.
At other times, people give ten times more information than needed. When you call me to get a phone number…I don’t need the age, weight, hair color, and favorite hobbies of the person you’re looking for. The name is usually enough.
When interacting on a project, learn to trim your information. Give as few facts as are needed to accomplish the objective. You can entertain me when we’re hanging out at the picnic. But not when we’re at work trying to get something done in a limited amount of time.
Thanks for listening.
