Years ago when I worked at NCR Corporation, I was constantly amused by the business sarcasm of writers like Scott Adams. He and others like him satirize our silly human behaviors that seem nearly universal. Memorable sayings like “no good deed ever goes unpunished” always broke the tension and brought levity into those long, late night projects.
The list below is a cynical take on the outcome of big projects…making fun of our shared awareness how projects seem to constantly veer towards failure. The list below is reprinted with many variations…and always cracks me up!
Six Phases of a Project
- Panic and hysteria,
- Search for the guilty,
- Punishment of the innocent, and
- Praise and honor for the nonparticipants.
