12Stone Church is celebrating our 25th Anniversary at the Gwinnett Arena on Friday, May 17, 2013. How powerful this event will be…with over 11,000 people from 4 different campuses gathered together to worship Christ, celebrate the past, and dream about the future. Simply awesome.
A friend of mine is the project manager for the annual Orange Conference (which is also held at the Arena). She invited me to volunteer on her team at this conference…to gain experience for our Anniversary Event in May.
I politely declined. After all, I know what I am doing. I have led dozens of extremely large events…and my confidence is high that we will have a wildly successful event.
Within minutes, God started tapping me on the shoulder. He asked if I remembered the dozens of smaller organizations that have held their events in our building in the past. He reminded me of my irritation at their hubris…when they ignored our expertise and advice…ignoring the fact that they didn’t know what they didn’t know!
How silly of me. There can be no doubt that I have something to learn from people who deliver at a level above me! Surely there are things that I don’t know that I don’t know!
So, I have signed up as a volunteer to serve at the Orange Conference on April 24-26. Perhaps you are interested in joining me?
Thanks for listening!
