My friend Rebekah shared this post about things we should never say in a sales or business transaction. Here are a few highlights:
“That’s not my department” You must take responsibility for everything, whether it’s in sales or your personal life. Don’t blame the economy, don’t blame other people, and don’t blame any external conditions, because blaming is something you do to become a slave.
“You can trust me” Saying “trust me” to another person isn’t going to build trust and will probably have the opposite effect. To properly encourage others to trust you, you must understand that people believe what they see, not what they hear. You can ask for their trust…but you have to be able to deliver if they give you the opportunity.
“It’s a company policy” You know you hate hearing it. Nobody cares about a company policy, they care about the service they are provided, so don’t use it as a way to justify why you can’t, or won’t, do something for a customer. If you have a policy that conflicts with the comfort of the client, either break it, don’t bring it up or come up with a solution before you propose a problem.
Those are just 3 of the things you should never say. Read the rest of them here!
Thanks for listening.
