“Superheroes are in the business of hope…and even the really gothy ones don’t limit themselves to the fights they know they can win.”
If I am honest, that has been a lifelong struggle of mine. If I sense a fight coming my way, I immediately start assessing whether it is winnable or not…and the result of that assessment usually determines my fight or flight reaction.
Now that I think about it, this characteristic is what I most admire in a hero – the determination to protect and defend what is right and just, regardless of the personal cost. It is the willingness to stand their ground when outnumbered that most captures my attention, whether in film or in real life.
So, I’m working on my personal determination to stop counting the cost…and only decide what is right and what is wrong.
How about you? Are you avoiding any fights because of the perceived outcome?
Thanks for listening.
