My church has used this worship tune many times in the past…but I’ve had a hard time embracing it before last night. The rhythm and lyrics have been hard for me to learn…and just hasn’t “worked” for me in the past. But last night at the 6pm service, I started thinking about some of the beautiful things that God has produced:
- If I were to make a mountain, it would look smooth and symmetrical. But God made them jagged and irregular. I like that.
- If I were to design the weather, it would always be 70 degrees and sunny. But God made snow. I like that, too.
- If I were to create a person, they would behave logically and predictably. But God made us emotional and messy. I like that….well…sort of.
God tends to design with chaos, disorder, and asymmetry. I tend to design with the opposite. It’s a good thing that we were not participants in the design process. The world would not be an interesting place at all…
