One of my friends completed a major project this week. It’s significance cannot be over-communicated because it is the architectural foundation to one of our organization’s most important objectives in the next 2-3 years. Because of his foresight, wisdom, and investment of time…we are poised for success.
But only a couple of people will ever know. His work is not visible to anyone else in the organization. It would be like designing the key component of the nation’s power grid – no one will ever see it. People only see the result it produces.
In spite of the obscurity of my friend’s success, he is enjoying a huge sense of accomplishment. After all,
- His wife knows about it
- A couple of his friends know about it
- His boss knows about it
And, the Creator of the Universe (the one who knit him together in his mother’s womb) knows about it.
When you experience success in your work, do you need a big audience in order to celebrate your accomplishment? Or, is it enough for you when God is the only one clapping in applause?
Thanks for listening.
