Last week was a difficult week. Each of my key projects were experiencing unexpected setbacks and we are at risk of missing our delivery dates. Over time, I began to experience frustration over the obstacles and I began asking “God, Are You With Me?”
You see, I thought I was following HIS agenda. It seemed clear to me that these were HIS projects. I believed that the delivery dates were set by HIM. But the obstacles created significant doubt in my mind. Perhaps I was wrong. Perhaps He had abandoned me.
That was silly. He promised otherwise. And He was willing to prove it.
Sometime over the last 24 hours, my wife had lost her watch. It was a treasured piece of jewelry that I had given her over 20 years ago when we had little margin for such extravagant gifts. So, when the clasp wore out, she continued to wear it….and therefore lost it somewhere during her excursions across Gwinnett County (Christmas Shopping, local parade, grand-kids, you name it). That’s too much ground to cover. So, it was gone for good.
Except when God wants to remind me that he is still with me. On my way to church last night He whispered “go look at the XYZ parking lot for her watch.” I thought that was pretty stupid and argued there was no way I would just drive up and find it.
Except….I DID find it. It was in the EXACT spot God told me to look. I drove up and pointed my headlights at the spot and got out of my truck. It was laying right there in the rain…still ticking away. You would think I just discovered a goldmine. It was a priceless moment.
Do you sometimes ask “God, Are You With Me?” Then pay attention. He might just answer you.
Thanks for listening.
PS: Sunday’s message was designed to reinforce the lesson…just in case I wasn’t listening. Listen and enjoy!
