Here at 12Stone Church, we contract with dozens of off-duty police officers to assist with traffic and security at our various campuses. These men and women are true professionals, and are amazing at their poise and skill under pressure. We are indebted to them and proud of their service to us and to our community.
Unfortunately, we had one particular officer this past year who failed to represent our organization in a worthy manner. His attitude did not serve him (or us) very well. We decided we would release him from our team.
But, his lead officer asked for permission to take another course of action. That leader pulled this officer aside and pointed out his actions…how it harmed him as well as others on his team. That leader showed courage to have a difficult conversation and coach the other officer through a process that redeemed his position and future with our organization.
Now, they are both better officers and better men. I am extremely proud of them.
That is a better outcome!
Is there someone that you need to have a courageous conversation with today?
Thanks for listening.
