Every solution has drawbacks and negative consequences.
Anyone with a speck of intelligence can point out a potential problem that can arise in any project. After all, there are plenty of negative consequences to be found. Every project has a large number of complexities and value choices that compete with each other and threaten the overall success of the project.
Therefore we are unimpressed when you point out everything that might not (or doesn’t) work. What impresses us is when you improve and add value to the project. We are encouraged when you bring leadership energy and add momentum to the project.
But please, stop pointing out the obvious. We can see the negative consequences as well as you do. Resolve yourself to bring three positive improvements to the project before you point out one negative consequence.
Thanks for listening.
