One of the most annoying situations is to be in an important meeting, only to have the conversation constantly derailed by someone who should be sitting quietly and listening. It is the fastest path to becoming uninvited to the next meeting.
When most of us are invited to meetings…it is because of our ability to contribute. Therefore, it is our responsibility to speak up and add value to the conversations.
However, others are sometimes invited to meetings as a developmental opportunity. They are allowed to participate in order to learn, grow, and prepare for future assignments or responsibilities.
- Know the difference
- Know why you are in the room
- Know the influence that you carry
And participate accordingly. Thanks for listening.
