New projects (and new jobs) are created to solve a problem. Otherwise, the organization would have preserved the status quo. It’s too much work and too expensive to create meaningless change. No one gives you new responsibilities without carrying huge expectations for change.
If you are in a new project (or position):
- Are you clearly aware of your mandate?
- What problems are you expected to solve, else you fail?
If you don’t know, now is a good time to ask.
