Seth Godin inspired me with these thoughts – I took liberty paraphrasing slightly…
Some people are able to reflect the light that is projected at them. They can redirect objectives, resources and energy and focus them where they need to go. This is a really valuable skill.
Even more valuable, though, is the person who glows in the dark. Not reflecting energy, but creating it. Not redirecting urgencies but generating them. The glow in the dark colleague is able to restart momentum, when everyone else is ready to give up.
At the other end of the spectrum is the black hole. All the energy and all the urgency merely disappears.
If you can glow in the dark, you know that you will eventually need to recharge. But you can lead the way until the rest of us can join you and start reflecting.
Do you know which person you are? The rest of us do…
Thanks for listening.
