I just spent the last few days with Portable Church Industries (they are helping us launch five new church campuses in January). They are simply amazing (check out the videos on their web site where they set up a complete mobile church site in 45 minutes or less.
The guys they sent this weekend (to train our volunteers) were top notch. They studied our game plan and knew it better than we did. They made it their mission to learn the names of our volunteers and constantly encouraged them. They worked after hours and arrived early. They made suggestions and elevated everyone’s game.
It was especially cool how they kept complementing our staff and teams. They recognized our shared desire for excellence and fed off our passion to deliver a great experience and change people’s lives. We had a regular “mutual admiration club”.
Here is the interesting leadership lesson:
- A players attract A players (excellence attracts excellence)
- B players attract C players (good attracts average)
Can you see the difference? Is being “B” good enough for you…or do you pursue (and therefore attract) excellence?
Thanks for listening.
