Do you allow facts to inform your opinions? I recently drove a truck that I thought was out of alignment. My brain said “this thing is going all over the road”.
Later, I started thinking about it…because it did not happen all the time. I quickly realized that it was a breaking issue. It only happened when I applied pressure quickly and firmly to the brakes.
After more time had passed, I realized that the truck was driving just fine (even when braking). The difference? I was not hauling a heavy load.
Therefore, the issue is “my truck pulls to the left when I brake heavily and simultaneously am pulling a full load“. This is easily explained by a loading problem in my trailer and may have nothing to do with the alignment of my truck.
Every time I observed a new fact, it changed my opinion and understanding of the issue. Can you change your opinions as facts role in, or do you set your mind and assign the blame without further consideration?
Thanks for listening.
