I am often disappointed. My expectations (for a meeting, event, conversation, meal, journey, project, vacation, or even sleep) run high…and then fall unmet.
Yesterday I had a rare opportunity to go sailing after work. I’ve waited months for the chance to get back out on the water. The weather forecast was warm and great wind. I risked missing deadlines of a huge pile of urgent tasks to get some oxygen into my soul.
But, it was cold…the wind was a “no show”…and it was a disappointment.
However – my life is not a disappointment. On the way home, my wife and I shared our gratitude for God’s blessing in our lives. He has always taken care of us and watched over us. He has always provided. We have never gone hungry and always had a roof over our heads.
The next time you are disappointed, take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
Thanks for listening.
PS: Happy Birthday little brother!
