After the Wizards pulled off a double-overtime win over the Celtics (133-132)…there was an emotional interview with John Wall. He was visibly shaken over the loss earlier that day of Damiyah Telemaque-Nelson, a 6-year-old cancer patient he befriended last March.
It was a powerful glimpse into the heart of a human being.
But it is rare that people will soften enough to let us see their tender moments like that. More often, we have to look deeper. We have to search for it.
Can you see the humanity in others…or do they have to cry before you recognize their heart?
- Do you tend to assume others are out to get you?
- Do you blame others for everything that goes wrong in your life (or project)?
- Do you privately assign value based on personal prejudice?
- Do you accept hearsay and gossip as your starting point in a relationship?
Look deeper for the humanity in others. I promise you will be deeply rewarded by what you find!
Thanks for listening.
