Project Managers have to be able to remove obstacles. Throughout every project, event, process, and workflow…it is one of our most important tasks. We tend to think of obstacles as something on the outside. But sometimes, it is on the inside.
As I walked into worship services this weekend, I was given some instructions that irritated me. The issue was trivial, but it wormed its way under my skin and became the focus of my thinking. As I stood during the singing…it was all I could think about. Any thought of God was completely wiped out of my mind.
That emotion became an obstacle to my worship.
Once I realized what was happening, I went to work on removing it. I focused on forgiving the person for what they said. I began listing positive reasons for what they were trying to accomplish. I named it for what it was – an obstacle and a distraction. It took several minutes, but I was able to distance myself from the hurt. I put it behind me and purposely moved forward.
I was then able to give praise and adoration to the only One who is worthy to receive it.
Can you remove those inner obstacles that keep you from moving forward?
Thanks for listening.
