Pilots are specially trained on how to handle a nosedive. If they pull up too soon, they can stall the plane and crash. If they pull out too late…well…they still hit the ground.
I wish there was similar training for our personal lives.
I meet so many people who are clearly in a nosedive (marriage, career, financial, or character) and are seemingly unable to stop themselves from crashing. They seem to be locked into inaction…sliding in a free fall and not taking steps to turn things around.
Do you know how to pull out of a nosedive when your life is crashing? When things get rocky, do you know how to stabilize yourself? Here are a few of my “go to” solutions when I feel the descent….
- Check with my friends and ask what they see. I might be misinterpreting the signs.
- Get back to the basics that I’ve lost track of (diet, exercise, prayer, rest)
- If possible, place a temporary hold on tackling big, new projects (at least those that I have control of)
- Avoid making any major life decisions when in the “slide”
What do you think? Can you add to the list?
Thanks for listening.
