I wrote recently about my boys who played soccer…they started around 6 years old and played all the way through High School.
One of the hardest lessons to learn in that sport was to “play the space”. The natural instinct of every young player was to run directly at the ball…resulting in a formation called “bunch ball“. That behavior is hard to break, even in older players.
The secret in soccer is not about running to the ball, it is about running to where the ball is going to be.
It is the same with problems that occur in events and projects. Project Managers need to move towards that place where problems are most likely to occur. And that requires us to understand how/where our projects are most likely to break down. Do you?
Thanks for listening.
