I confess that I am a blamer. Within milliseconds of any negative event, all my brain cells are firing 100% to assess and determine who is at fault for the “problem”. It is involuntary…and I’m pretty good at it.
Here is a 3 minute animated video from Brene Brown as she talks about this temptation. It’s totally worth the time (and it’s hilarious) as she talks about how she can blame her husband when she spills her coffee in the kitchen (while he is at work).
Here is the killer statement: “Blame is simply the discharging of discomfort and pain”
Here is another one: “People who blame a lot seldom have the tenacity and grit to actually hold people accountable…because they spend all their energy raging at others” Wow.
