Yesterday’s sermon was a powerful message about parenting. My kids are all grown and I am an empty nester…but there was a powerful warning about my attitude in this current season.
I confess that I can become absorbed in chasing a “Daring Destination“. I shared a post about “Daring Destinations” called “Leadership Cocaine” and I am easily consumed by “Big Hairy Audacious Goals” (Jim Collins). The destination…the objective…the goal becomes my entire focus.
But Sean Myers said “God cares more about who we are (when we get there) than where we are actually going.” It stopped me in my tracks. I can get lost in the pursuit of the goal and forget to keep growing and serving others along the way.
I hope that reminder serves you well today. Do you focus more on the destination than your soul?
Thanks for listening.
