Tony often says he’s jealous of my friends…and for good reason. I have some incredibly awesome friends. And this past weekend was no exception. My friend Doug rescued me from a huge disaster.
Basically, after working all day to assemble cases of equipment for the launch of five new mobile campuses…I forgot to deliver a critical case to 3 of our new locations. The error wasn’t discovered until late in the evening…and Doug spent hours transporting them to cover my mistake.
Wow. How do you get (or cultivate) friends like these?
- Pick friends who are givers rather than takers. It’s easy to find friends who will take. It is possible to find friends that will give-and-take. It is hard to find friends who have a lifestyle of giving to others. But why would they want to be your friend?
- Be a giver yourself. Build your life around serving other people. Live your life for the purpose of making a difference in their lives…and you will find that others will help you when you need it the most.
Tony – thanks for the inspiration. You model this characteristic in your life!
Doug – Thank you for serving people with such a selfless heart! And, thank you for rescuing me.
Thanks for listening.
