The truth is I make mistakes.
And as much as I hate to admit it, the people above me (and below me) make mistakes as well. Not many…but we’re human and it happens. Even the person at the top of the organization makes his share of mistakes. Again, it’s rare but he’s human too.
Most mistakes can be corrected, but not all of them. Sometimes, you have to escalate “up the ladder”, but that doesn’t always work. There just isn’t enough margin and time available to fix everything we do wrong in the organization.
If we discover a mistake that creates an injustice, we (hopefully) work hard to correct it. But…there are some that don’t get fixed.
This is true in your organization. This is true in every organization. Therefore, we all recognize that there are plenty of mistakes made that may (or may not) be corrected.
This is not an excuse to do anything less than excellent work. But this is the reminder to give grace and forgiveness abundantly to others. After all, we need their forgiveness when we created the mistake they encountered!
Thanks for listening.
