Handwritten notes are gemstones…I thrill at each and every one that I receive. I recently showed one of our staff the handwritten thank you note that she gave me after her interview – from over 12 years ago! I honestly treasure them.
I don’t write them as often as I should. Why is that? Because it takes so much time and energy to write them.
It’s not just the note Itself that takes so much work…it is also finding the address, the return address (or label), the stamp, the stuffing and sealing, and the trip to the post office (or drop box). And that is precisely what makes them so special.
Mass marketers try to tick me with cursive fonts or photocopied handwriting…but I know when someone has written me a personal, handwritten note. There is no substitute. There is no way to take shortcuts.
If you want to inspire me with your personal, hand-written note, don’t try to mass-produce them. Do the hard work and give yourself to the process! Anything else and you lose my trust.
Thanks for listening.
