Most of us think about sacred moments as something formal…and produced by others. We think of them as church services…wedding ceremonies…and moments of solemn vows being given.
But sacred moments can occur at anytime and anywhere…often in the middle of the workday.
Today was a full day – one long project that took the entire day and dozens of little ones scattered in-between via text, phone calls, and emails. I had little time to stop and think about what was happening around me.
Fortunately, I caught myself before today got away from me. I realized that I was in the middle of a sacred moment. I was participating in an event that would never be repeated again…and was one of those moments that will be talked about for years to come. I slowed myself down and tried to appreciate the gift of this day. I tried to savor the moment before it passed. I gave God thanks for the chance to participate in such a priceless moment.
Sacred moments are:
- Special because of their eternal significance
- Shared with people who are important to you
- More common than you think
- Often contained within an otherwise mundane day
- Easily overlooked
- Never repeatable
Keep your eyes open. Be prepared to embrace them when they come your way.
Thanks for listening.
