This morning, I swung through Chick-fil-A for breakfast while racing to an appointment. That store was humming with two fast moving ordering lanes that converged into one pickup window. I was impressed.
When arriving at the window, I decided to complement the staff. They were very gracious…but handed me someone else’s food. As I stared at the bag, they said “Oops” and immediately swapped out the food for another bag without missing a beat. All-in-all, it was a non-issue.
However, in that micro-second of delay as I was driving away, I picked up on the conversation running behind the counter:
“All of our computers are down”
So…they were moving the line at full speed and (mostly) getting the orders right…without their most important tool. Wow. If I had not been listening, I would not have even known there was a problem.
Now THAT is grace under fire. Can you do that?
Thanks for listening.
