…to show up yesterday morning when I committed. Several of us were headed to NewSpring Church in SC to learn from their new visitor process, and I had the only vehicle that held everyone. But, I got side-tracked the night before and double-booked my day as though that trip was deleted from my calendar.
That is a horrible feeling when you get that call. I was sick to my stomach as I raced to the rendezvous point nearly 45 minutes late. I had let my teammates down…and we were at risk of missing the start of the service and therefore the purpose of the trip was at risk.
I deserved a reprimand. But I received grace. Genuine grace….the kind that comes from the heart and breathes oxygen to the soul. Not one cross look…not one side comment. Just understanding and kindness. And, we made it to SC in time to accomplish our mission.
I have been asking myself: “If I was on the other side of that situation, would I have been that forgiving?” Would you?
Thanks for listening.
